New Mexico has gone digital 6/12/09

DTV Success in New Mexico
In keeping with the national numbers, the anticipation of the digital transition was worse than the actual transition. Member stations reported sharp day-to-day declines in calls to their stations. After Friday's first-day rush of 1007 calls into KOAT-TV, the number of calls dropped significantly by Sunday.

"Approximately 50% [of the calls] were related to scan/rescan issues,” GM Mary Lynn Roper reported. “Thirty percent were antenna adjustment, and the rest were divided between converter box issues and coverage area questions.”

The NMBA is proud of the work our television partners have put into this transition. Despite the publicity as the least prepared market, the Albuquerque/Santa Fe DMA’s analog TV transition era went out with a whimper over the weekend.

Walk-in centers and contractors are still available to help consumers get connected. Visit our Contact page for more information.
