FARMINGTON AND DURANGO Farmington and Durango receive television signals
from several sources. Hometown stations KOBF-TV and KREZ-TV will transition to digital on February 17,
2009. In order to receive the signals from KREZ and KOBF, residents in northwestern New Mexico and
southwestern Colorado need to be able to receive a digital signal. However, all other stations come from
sources outside of this area on translators. These translators are equipped to "translate" the digital
signal from the source to analog. Therefore, some Farmington residents may need to be able to receive both
the digital and the analog signals.
Residents who have already invested in a digital television will be able to receive all signals
with their television. However, for residents who would like to continue using their analog-tuner set,
they will need to purchase a converter box with both a digital and an analog input, or
check with their television service providers for service-specific solutions. To make sure you're
ready for the digital transition, click on our "HOW DO I SWITCH?" link. The map shows communities that are immediately effected by the digital
transition. Keep checking back for updated information as we continue to move toward the digital transition.
